Hancock<\/strong> Will Smith is John Hancock, a down and out boozing superhero in this original action-adventure-comedy.\u00a0 Hancock cannot remember who he is or where he came from — he seems to be cast adrift without a purpose.\u00a0 And yet, he is compelled to perform the duties of a superhero such as catching killers evading police in high speed car chases.\u00a0 He is even eco-friendly by saving a beached whale.\u00a0 But he cannot control his anger when he is criticized for being reckless and he has a drinking problem as a result.\u00a0 So when he suspends criminals in their car from the top of a city building this provides much of the film\u2019s humor, but it is also a source of destruction that causes the public to mistrust him.\u00a0 Watching the details on Blu-ray of an unshaven Hancock flying and crashing through interstate signs and road-hogging pigeons on his way to intercept the bad guys makes the film all the more of a guilty pleasure.<\/p>\n Fortunately for Hancock, he saves the life of Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), a public relations specialist, who devises a plan to rehabilitate Hancock\u2019s image and increase his stature in the public eye.\u00a0 Along the way Hancock meets Ray\u2019s wife Mary (Charlize Theron) who will help him recover memories from his mysterious past and plumb the depths of whether he wants to be a superhero or to have a private life of his own.<\/p>\n Special extras include an in-picture visual diary that plays as the movie is running.\u00a0 The film also sports featurettes such as: \u201cSuperHumans: The Making of Hancock,\u201d which are comments from the film\u2019s cast; \u201cSeeing the Future,\u201d that explains how computer special effects were first computer story-boarded and then allowed the actors to know how to react emotionally to special effects befor e they were added to the final film; \u201cBuilding a Better Hero,\u201d an in-depth look at the special computer generated effects by expert John Dykstra; \u201cBumps and Bruises,\u201d depicting the film\u2019s physical stunts; \u201cHome Life\u201d involving the creation of the Embrey home as a film set (including hints that Mary is a healing goddess) and Hancock\u2019s trailer home in the desert; \u201cSuiting Up,\u201d showing character wardrobe and fashion for the film (noting Hancock\u2019s interest with the eagle symbol); and \u201cMere Mortals: Behind the Scenes with Dirty Pete,\u201d a commentary on how to direct actors to behave as superheroes.The film also comes with a D-Box Motion Code\u2122 system that with additional equipment creates real-life motion in your seat that\u2019s synced to the action you see on screen.\u00a0 For more information see http:\/\/www.d-box.com\/2008\/<\/a>.\u00a0 BD-Live is also supported and a digital copy bonus disc is included that can be played on a computer to watch the movie if you are traveling.<\/p>\n
