The Invincible Iron Man is an animated retelling or the superhero’s origin story; however, unlike the live action movie with Obadiah Stane \/ Iron Monger as the villain, the principal villain here is the Mandarin.\u00a0 It makes a great gift for teenage boys and comic book fans of all ages.<\/p>\n

In this portrayal Tony Stark (Marc Worden) is trying to prove to his father Howard Stark (John McCook) that he is a worthy successor to run the company, Stark Enterprises.\u00a0 Howard has his doubts.\u00a0 After Tony is framed for weapon’s smuggling, he is removed as head of project development at the company and he is put on the run fro m S.H.I.E.L.D. law enforcement agents.\u00a0 Tony enlists the help of his best friend James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Rodney Saulsberry) and faithful, personal assistant Virginia “Pepper” Potts (Elisa Gabriella).<\/p>\n

In order to clear his name, Toney must return to China and confront the Jade Dragons, the terrorist organization that framed him, and discover their true purpose.\u00a0 Along the way his fate is intertwined with one of the terrorists, Li Mei (Gwendoline Yeo), who has a similar personal demon of not being accepted by her own father.\u00a0 Tony Stark falls in love with her.\u00a0 Ultimately Stark \/ Iron Man must fight the Elementals such as earth, water, wind and fire.\u00a0 They seek to resurrect the Mandarin, an evil emperor from China’s violent past.\u00a0 I f they succeed the Mandarin will become an immortal with mystical power over all the elements.<\/p>\n

The Iron Man suits and Elementals in the film are CGI and look great.\u00a0 The other characters rely on traditional hand drawn animation to visually convey emotion and depth.<\/p>\n

Extras include The Origin of Iron Man, a featurette detailing the comic book history and evolution of the superhero; an Alternate Opening Sequence that provides background material on the Mandarin’s bargain with demons and the curse that is placed upon him (still pictures with voice over); a Hall of Iron Man gallery, showing and explaining the superhero’s different armor suits from the comics; Iron Man Concept Art; and trailers for other productions (Hulk v. Wolverine, Hulk v. Thor, and Doctor Strange).<\/p>\n
