Fans of the Stargate<\/em> science fiction action adventure television series will want to add this\u00a0 Blu-ray Disc\u2122\u00a0 to their movie collection.\u00a0 It provides a conclusion to a major story line developed in seasons nine and ten of the hit cable series.\u00a0 A handy play prelude option provides a short recap of seasons nine and ten to fans have not followed to bring them up to speed.<\/p>\n

For those new to the series, the Stargate is technology created by The Ancients, that when \u201cdialed in,\u201d allows passage to numerous worlds and galaxies containing other active Stargates.\u00a0 In Ark of Truth series regulars return \u2013 headstrong Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell (Ben Browder), beautiful science genius Lt. Col. Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), stoic Teal’c (Christopher Judge), ethical and contemplative archeologist Daniel Jackson (Michael Jackson), and scheming but gold hearted thief Vala Mal Doran (Claudia Black).<\/p>\n

The Stargate team must follow clues to find the Ark of Truth before a powerful race of beings launch a full scale attack on Earth.\u00a0 They must also deal with a traitor in their midst and the return of old foes.<\/p>\n

The powerful race of beings that threaten the destruction of the Earth are The Ori.\u00a0 The Ori are a race that splintered from The Ancients, the original creators of the Stargates.\u00a0 The Ancients\u2019 philosophy is the pursuit of free will.\u00a0 The Ori philosophy is to dominate other cultures, although they profess to be righteous and true.\u00a0 The Ori spread their will through Priors (monk like characters with telekinetic powers) and battleships containing armored, crusader-like soldiers.\u00a0 The ethical dilemma is whether to use\u00a0Ancient technology, The Ark of Truth, to convince the Ori\u2019s followers that the Ori\u2019s promises are false rather than allow them to reach the conclusion\u00a0using their own free will.\u00a0 Do the ends justify the means?<\/p>\n

Extras include Uncovering the Arc of Truth a well produced featurette with commentary by the actors and by visual and special effects staff, fight coordinator and music composer.\u00a0 Also included is The Ark of Truth: Stargate at ComicCon wherein some of the show’s stars answer fans questions.\u00a0 In picture commentary is also available.<\/p>\n
