Audio-Technica ATH-M35 Headphones <\/strong><\/p>\n Audio-Technica<\/a> of Japan is well known for their outstanding transducers.\u00a0 And what is a transducer?\u00a0 A transducer converts electrical energy into mechanical (sonic) energy, and vice-versa… the hardest tasks in audio reproduction.\u00a0 Besides speakers, some examples of transducers are microphones, phono cartridges, and headphones… with Audio-Technica being well-represented in all of the latter three categories.<\/p>\n Besides being known for high quality and precision, Audio-Technica products are well-known for their value.\u00a0 Audio-Technica doesn’t dwell in the high-end realm that much, at least in terms of price… in terms of performance, however, they often do.\u00a0 For example, the Audio-Technica AT-OC9\/MLII phono cartridge <\/a>(review coming soon)\u00a0 lists for $699, has a street price of $399 and performs as well or better than some cartridges I have tried that cost several times its price.<\/p>\n Which brings us to today’s Product of the Day… the Audio-Technica ATH-M35 headphones<\/a>.\u00a0 Marketed as studio monitor headphones, they work very well in hi-fi applications, too. No fancy noise cancellation or gimmicks, just superior sound… what one comes to expect from Audio-Technica.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n These closed back, over-the-ear headphones are delivered with a long cord with a miniplug, perfect for use with an iPod.\u00a0 They also include an adapter to use them with the standard headphone socket found on audio receivers.\u00a0 The adapter is threaded and when it is screwed on to the miniplug it feels like one piece- very sturdy.<\/p>\n As for the sound… these headphones deliver the neutrality one expects of a quality headphone, without excessive bass or exagerrated treble that sounds impressive initially but quickly grows tiring.\u00a0 The ATH-M35 delivers sound that is incredibly detailed and articulate, delicate, and clean, with excellent tonal quality that sounds just right.\u00a0 You will hear details in movies and music that you never have heard before. I’ve been using mine to watch Blu-ray movies late at night or when lying in bed and it has come to be something I look forward to at the end of every day.<\/p>\n Now, for the value part I told you about- with some smart shopping these headphones are a wonderful value.\u00a0 The Audio-Technica ATH-M35 headphones list for $139 but can be purchased for as little as $61.20 at Amazon.com<\/a>.
