Setup guides coming soon

One thing I have learned through my correspondence with readers is people are very confused when it comes to setting up the latest home theater gear.  I’ve received emails from readers owning systems costing $20,000 or more that were set up by professional installers, and the installers didn’t even tell the new owners how to get the Blu-ray lossless audio tracks to play!

New receivers have configurable inputs, Blu-ray disc players have multiple audio connections and different output modes… it is all very confusing and the manuals are not much help.

Very soon I will have a series of setup guides that will walk you  through every step of the setup process from wiring the speakers to tuning your television for the best possible picture. I’ve chosen some of the best gear and best values around for these upcoming guides.

The first guide will be posted by Monday and will feature a Definitive Technology Mythos SSA-50 surroundbar with ProSub 1000 subwoofer and an Onkyo TX-SR806 receiver.

The guides will work with most any receiver and speaker system as I take a high-level view, rather than drill into the specifics of the equipment used.

Here are a few of the illustrations to give you an idea of my simple, easy-to-understand approach.

We’ll go into the receiver setup menus and get everything configured as it should be- simply and easily.

Stop back soon- you will see the first setup guide posted in the Learning Center section!
