Product of the Day, Day 41: Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Player
Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Player
Today’s Product of the Day, the Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray player, is well known to be one of the best you can buy. It is fast, reliable, well supported by the manufactuerer, supports Internet streaming from YouTube, decodes high-def audio via HDMI, supports BD-Live, and has outstanding image quality from both Blu-ray discs and DVDs. Most Blu-ray players have DVD image quality that is mediocre at best, which makes the Panasonic players stand out in the marketplace. Now you can get this standout product at a lower price than ever before.
DMP-BD60 rear view
Given this post comes on the heels of my recommendation of the Panasonic DMP-BD70, which is functionally similar save for the BD70’s VHS player, there had to be something about the DMP-BD60 that stands out at the moment. That something is the price. Typically it sells for $299, which is a good value given its quality but still significantly more than many other players, specifically budget models from Insignia, Philips, and Magnavox. Amazon.com currently has the DMP-BD60 on sale for $199, which is little more than those entry-level players that have fewer features and can’t compete with the DMP-BD60’s DVD performance. Getting the DMP-BD60 for $199 is like getting a BMW for the price of a Hyundai. Hyundais are good cars that get the job of transportation done admirably, but most people would rather have the BMW for about the same money if they could!
Not sure how long the sale will last, but if you read this and have been waiting for a player, you won’t do any better than this.
